The resort is very family friendly with a wonderful staff.
The lifts are quite old and the resort is almost completely centered around new skiers.
I have to say that I love this little resort. It isn't big or fancy like the other local resorts, but comes across as an intimate place built just for families. The resort is not created to cater to the extreme skier or boarder, it's all about the beginning and average skier. The staff is the friendliest I've ever seen. I saw instructors and coaches on every part of the mountain, and they would give advice to anyone who asked for it.
The lifts are old, and don't match up to the more expensive resorts, but that's no big deal. It's the trip down that we are going for, isn't it?
The snow making capabilities at this resort are remarkable, with 7 of the 8 slopes being covered. Being a little north and west of Massanutten and Wintergreen, the evening temperatures are usually a few degrees colder. This resort often starts the day with powder when the others have ice. It's not big or fancy, but for a family of first time skiers, it can't be beat.
