Stratton Mountain

Stratton Mountain Resort is located on the highest peak in Southern Vermont with a 2,003 vertical drop and 97 trails and more than 100 acres of glades on a single summit for a total of 600+ acres of terrain. Eleven lifts include the summit gondola and four high-speed six-passenger chairs. With 95 percent snowmaking coverage, Stratton offers a “Great Snow Guarantee,” ski or ride for an hour (any day, any hour) and if you are not happy Stratton will give you credit toward another day.

Stratton slopeside Village is lined with shops and restaurants. For the 2013-14 season, guests reap the reward of a $6 million investment in the resort experience including snowmaking, grooming, new trails, on-mountain dining and lodging with the newly remodeled Black Bear Lodge. Stratton is less than 30 minutes from the outlet shopping mecca of Manchester.

Air Travel:

The nearest airports serving Stratton Mountain are Albany International Airport (ALB), 66 miles; Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston, 160 miles; Bradley International Airport (BDL) in Hartford, Conn., 112 miles; and Burlington International Airport (BTV), 121 miles.

By Car:

New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia skiers and riders would be well-advised to take I-87 North to Albany until exit 23 and I-787. Follow I-787 to Route 7 East, which becomes Route 279 at the Vermont border. Move along 279 to VT Route 7 in Bennington. From there, it's on to Route 7 North and Manchester. Get off Route 7 at exit 4 in Manchester Center. Turn right onto Route 11/Route 30. Proceed seven miles until Route 30 splits to the right and drive onto Route 30 South. Continue seven miles to Bondville. Turn right onto Stratton Mountain Road directly after the 7-Eleven. The resort is four miles in front of you. It's 218 miles from the Newark Airport (EWR).

Boston skiers take Route 2 West to I-91. Go North to exit 2 and follow signs to Route 30 North. Drive 38 miles to Bondville. Turn right onto Stratton Mountain Road directly after the 7-Eleven. The resort is four miles in front of you. It's 160 miles from Logan Airport (BOS) in Boston to Stratton.

Hartford is 121 miles from the resort. Connecticut skiers and riders will want to take I-95 North to I-91 in New Haven. Stay on I-91 North to Brattleboro at exit 2. Follow signs to Route 30 North. Drive 38 miles to Bondville. Turn right onto Stratton Mountain Road directly after the 7-Eleven. The resort is four miles in front of you.

Guests arriving through the Albany International Airport (ALB) will want to take I-87 to exit 7. Merge onto Route 7 East toward Troy. Route 7 changes to Route 279 at the Vermont border. Move along 279 to VT Route 7 in Bennington. From there, it's on to Route 7 North and Manchester. Get off Route 7 at exit 4 in Manchester Center. Turn right onto Route 11/Route 30. Proceed seven miles until Route 30 splits to the right and drive onto Route 30 South. Continue seven miles to Bondville. Turn right onto Stratton Mountain Road directly after the 7-Eleven. The resort is four miles in front of you. The total trip is 64 miles.

Getting Around:

Stratton Resort sits atop a fairly long access road and driving around the resort and parking can be a problem during busy periods. Your best bet is to park and then use the convenient and complimentary shuttle service. It's easy if you are staying there. The Village is full of shops and restaurants, but you will need to drive if you want to head to neighbors Bromley or Magic Mountain to ski. You will also need to drive the 25-30 minutes to Manchester to take advantage of that charming town's multitude of outlet shops and restaurants. One alternative is to stay at the 200-plus year-old, historic and wonderful, Equinox Hotel in Manchester Center and let them shuttle you back and forth for skiing.

Ground Transportation:

Your best bet is to use one of the car rental agencies at your airport of choice and use our recommended driving routes. Stratton has no official ground transportation or shuttle service from the airports listed.
