While the mountain is amazing and the the lifts put you on mountain fast the staff and the resort soured the experience. Spent 6 ski days at the Lodge at Spruce Peak. The hotel staff were a fail with exception of the bell staff, room cleaning staff and the valets. The restaurants in the village were awful and I have a door stop I got to take home which they tried to pass off as a pork chop. A few miles down the road there are other options but for a drink or food after skiing it feels like extortion. The lift attendants were not attentive often on phones. The way they scanned the passes at the entrance of the lift line ropes made the flow of the day a downer. Often standing in front of you and blocking momentum. The people participating in racing were aggressive. Being cut several times in lift lines and several close calls on the slopes with race participants was frustrating. It felt like my ticket to ski was not the same as the one they bought if you get my drift. Haven’t been to Stow in 10 years previous to this Valentines week 23. Won’t be back for at least 10 more. Should have gone to Killington. I ski between 15 and 30 days a year and have been skiing for 40 years at 44. This was a family vacation with my wife and son. I am a advanced skier and I do feel 6 days in a row more than ever.
Terrain, lift speed and grooming are among the best in the east.
Lazy staff. On there phones several times whil waiting to scan my pass. When the lines are short the lift attendants stop you at the beginning of the coral to scan your pass instead of at the end where you naturally come to a stop. Terrible music, opinion

Vail operations can't seem to keep the lifts running. Have heard excuse "need a part to get the lift running" more times than reasonable. New parking fee doesn't make me happy but they seem to be doing a good job running shuttle service from the free lots.
Great trails
Overrun on weekends

Way too much money for what you get. Southern VT resorts are much better and more modern. The village off the mountain is great but I’ll never ski there again. I don’t know what the hype is about Stowe (except for town, which is beautiful). I gave Stowe three chances and each time I was less impressed. We had an incident with some unprofessional staff members that didn’t help their case. Killington, Okemo, Stratton, Snow are all better in my mind. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The Stowe Village off the Resort is a great.
Unprofessional Staff, main mountain lodge is very dated and tiny, cost- value, trails are okay, lifts on main mountain are not all high speed.. I can go on but those are the major issues. I’ll never pay to ski there again.

I didn't like that without a vax card you can't eat or drink anywhere. You can't get into a bar or restaurant but they have no problem shoving you into a pact gondola with other people with no mask.
A good amount of trails
Trails not well groomed

Recently came back from our first ski-cation this year. We made the rounds through Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts and of course one of our stops was at Stowe (which is truly the best mountain in Vermont). It was early in the season, so not everything I wanted to ski was open, but what was open was great, especially the runs off the Gondola. If you don't know, there are 2 mountains: Mansfield and Spruce and on Mansfield (the larger of the 2) there are 3 ways up: toll road, Quad and Gondola. The great part about the Gondola is how warm you stay. You ski down and share warmth up. And the runs are long. Not Colorado long, but really long for the East. We had great snow, great weather and a great time. Do yourself a favor and get out there!
Lots of trails and acreage
Pricey

First time at Stowe, last time at Stowe. To get to main lift you take the Olympic challenge and walk up the hill at an 85 degree angle, decided I didn’t want to attempt so headed to stairs. Stopped to get a map, no go, use your app on your phone. I chose not to bring my phone, I’d be the one to drop it in the powder on a double black. Headed to negotiate the unshoveled stairs, ok, I’ll get there eventually. Lift to my left running and seats being brushed off, it’s 8:50. Do I wait or climb the next incline to the main lift. Glad I made that decision since they’re just messing with you, lift never opened, glad I didn’t wait. Heading to the open lift, no entrance on this side, probably 100+ feet more to the opening and then head back another 100ft to wait in line- the line management was super. Vail, if you have any say, add a set of stairs right of the lodge near the parking lot. I prefer not to get up a sweat even before I get to the lift. Granted, I’m over 60 and an average skier , I’ll stick to Okemo, Sunapee and Mt Snow.. just saying
It’s in Vermont
Old ski resort that needs updating.

Up for Christmas week 2021. Only one run open off gondala and no snow making on it. Limited snow making off Quad but a week in they hadn’t opened a new trail. Oh- but the website showed a skier in powder???
Great terrain
Vail doesn’t prioritize snow making

Overall, the conditions were 3 times better than Killington with plenty of natural snow, however, the lift lines were long at times. I totally recommend it to anyone who wants to have a winter getaway at a nice resort with great skiing. Great lodging with an awesome town with many great dining choices and more.
Great conditions when under 32 degrees
Too many people
