Skied there this past week and it was disappointing. Most of the mountain was closed even though there was a lot of snow. The Gondola and Spruce Peak lifts were shut and only the quad and triple were running. Saving money? What they had open was quite good and some nice fresh powder, but not up to the skiing that I had at Sugarbush the prior day. There seems to be a laissez-faire attitude that has taken over the Resort. While the front four are great trails and there is some good tree skiing, the rest of Stowe is fairly boring and overrated. It will be interesting to see what happens with the final development there. I was told by the staff that the new base lodge will not be ready for two years.
