Full review

Stowe is my second favorite VT ski resort after Sugarbush. Stowe has lovely views to the east and south, but lacks the fantastic views of Sugarbush since the lifts do not rise to the summit of Mt. Mansfield. Although Stowe has fewer trails than many VT ski areas, the trails are varied and interesting, with true vertical drops of up to 2350.' The front-line trails seem to go on forever and I love the long cruisers as well as the more difficult trails. My favorite trails are Perry Merrill, Cliff, Nosedive, Hayrise, Lord, Standard and Starr. Stowe is a good snow catcher, makes lots of snow and has good grooming. Twice I have experienced much better conditions there than at Sugarbush because of greater natural snow and more snow-making on key trails. The lifts are fast and the gondola is comfortable on frigid days. The restaurants are excellent but I prefer Sugarbush Inn to the Inn by the mountain at Stowe.
