Full review

Smuggs is known as the best family ski destination in North America for good reason. The layout is very easy - you won't need a car once you arrive - and easy to manage for families, the instruction and child care is first rate across the board, and the terriain is plenty challenging and varied. Extensive glades and steeps on a classic narrow-trail New England mountain are the highlights. The lifts are old-fashioned attached doubles; no high-speeds, no gondo's. The positive side of this is the trails are never crowded. Smuggs has an astronomical rate of return visitors, because it is such a pleasant, welcoming place to be.
