My family and I love Smugglers Notch. Even though I know there are other people skiing it always feels that I have the trails to myself. There are no crowds at all on weekdays. Sometimes the weekends can be busy so plan your trip to ski during weekdays. If you are there on a busy weekend then the trick is to eat an early or late lunch and stay on the slope while everyone else is eating lunch at the usual lunch time. Move around to other lifts and lines will be shorter too. I'd rather have a crowd at the lift line than crowds on the slopes.
Smuggs has a great deal listed on their web site (www.smuggs.com). Stay 5 nights and get a season pass ! If they are driving distance you can't beat that deal. Plan your trip early in the season while the rates are cheaper, and stay in an efficiency. The Nordland building is nice, great location, and their effiency units sleep up to 4, has kitchen in each unit with full size fridge. Can ski behind the building next door to access the lower lifts. Nordland building also has a library on the lower level with fireplace, TV, couches, table chairs to relax. Nice to have some extra space to spread out in the evening. Sometimes the room was locked so not sure what the schedule is for the library room being available.
