We went as a family of 5 to Smuggler's for four years straight but have moved on to Okemo Stowe and Jay Peak. Plus at Smuggler's the accomadations are excellent, the family programs are well organized and the ski school is above average. Negative's 1 Lifts slowwww does not even begin to desribe the lifts, especially up Madonna chair which has extremely poor padding, so you freeze , as does your rear 2 Lifts that frequently stop like all the time ( we have been for four years in a row for a week at a time so I do not think this is an aberration 3 Runs are OK not great, especially for beginners and intermediates, many runs are good for the first 20-30 precent and the rest of the run is a major mush back to the chair life 4 Too much emphasis IMO on more condo's and not enough on grooming, expanding terrain, improving tree skiing 5 Cost Considering you can get not quite the accomadations but way more runs better lifts and better grooming at the 3 previous mentioned resorts we won't be back till the lift system is overhauled. The restaurants at Smuggler's for the cost are a little on the expensive side PS Jay peak is the best value is Vermont for prurely skiing but there is nothing to do at nigh Okemo is IMO the best for all around skiing and apres ski
