Just got back from another trip to Mad River Glen this past MLK weekend, and without a doubt this my favorite ski area on the East Coast. While its nice to be at a posh resort featuring high-speed lifts and Sushi for sale at the base lodge, the throwback vibe at the Glen seems to be a more fitting way to experience a mountain. Riding the single chair is one of the most serene, contemplative experiences, and then having your choice of any number of gnarly expert runs at your disposal is just incredible. Only drawback? With only a few lifts, you can end up waiting a while for the next trip up the single chair...but then again, the line gives you a chance to make friends with the multitude of friendly skiers that love the place as much as I do. You won't regret spending a day on these slopes!
