Full review

As a family, we have spent the whole of the last 3 winters skiing in over 20 resorts in NH, VT and ME.
Killington is truly one of the most beautiful resorts you could find with the most diverse trails, and because of the number of mountains, has something to ski on no matter what the weather, time of day, or which way the wind is blowing! At every point you have fabulous views in a stunning location.
It should be one of the best skiing experiences you could get, but sadly it just isn't.

The Killington ski pass is one of the most expensive and certainly the least value for money.
I cannot understand why the resort opens at 9am and closes at 4pm even on beautiful sunny days and does not offer evening or night skiing at least for some part of the week.
Around the resort the staff are indifferent and seem, frankly, downright bored to the point of rudeness.
The only employees who seem happy to talk to you or help are the Ski patrollers, and I believe they are volunteers!
Snow conditions, given the much publicised grooming equipment, ranged from poor, to dangerous to down-right laughable!
If they are going to permanently close restaurants, areas of trails, and other facilities they should charge less in your pass to reflect that reduction in service.
We had the least fun time, and came home knowing Killington would NOT be high on our list next year.

As a family, in the last 3 years, we have visited Killington 4 times to ski, and once to see the fall foliage.
On 4 occasions we have brought friends with us to whom we had recommended Killington.
We have become increasingly dissatisfied with the level of interest or service we received.
We have noticed the decline in enthusiasm in all the staff, in the hotel, lodges and at the lifts.
This year it was very evident that corners were being cut in the management of the snow, trails, and lodges.

Killington is a beautiful resort with much to offer. Unfortunately it would seem there is an arrogance about the way it is managed which assumes that people will keep coming back, no matter how badly they are treated, or how poor is the value for money.

We, as a family, will maybe ski at Killington again, but only for a week-end. We will not risk asking friends to come along again, and we will definitely NEVER stay at or recommend the Grand again.
We were double booked at the Grand and were told we would have to move to a different room every night for 5 nights, despite having paid in full in advance on a booking made in Sep 08!
On 4 of the five occasions we have stayed at the Killington Grand we have rented a penthouse apartment but apparently they can't ever "guarantee bookings" not even for regular, "good" customers.
If you don't mind having to threaten legal action to get the room you paid for, and waste skiing time moving from room to room, then the Grand is the place for you! And don't expect an apology, because you won't get one.

People have a choice and now have less money to spend. Visitors flying in for an annual trip from other parts of America and Europe would look at everything that the resort has to offer and overall Killington just does not compete with other destinations, although, sadly, it should.
