Full review

Zinal is one of 4 ski areas (Grimentz, St.Luc / Chandolin and Vercorin being the others) that make up the little discovered Val d'Anniviers ski region. The valley is a real gem - gorgeous old 15th century villages, largely unspoilt by modern development, charming locals and some truely great skiing. On piste there is 220km of groomed runs and plenty to challenge the average holiday skier. For those who enjoy off-piste the options are endless and seldom touched, so you find fresh powder days and sometimes weeks after a snow fall. St. Luc and Chandolin make up the largest and sunniest ski area, with the steepest skiing being found in Zinal. Grimentz, however, is probably the most popular village in the valley with its knock out charm and nice mix of easy and more challenging skiing. Since the nightlife and apres ski is pretty limited the area is best suited to families and for those who don't want to be hitting the pubs and clubs. But if that's not important for you, I'd say discover it before anyone else does - and don't tell anyone!
