Switzerland continues to be marginally the best nation in Europe for snow cover with several of the highest areas including the Gstaad 3000 glacier, Saas Fee and Zermatt all reporting up to five feet of snow on higher slopes. The snow is continuing to fall but as with other areas of the Alps, conditions are stormy with strong winds leading to lift closures and in some cases (Notably Crans Montana) entire ski areas having to close.
