Breckenridge's forest service permit requires then to close for elk calving and migratory habitat reasons. Feel free to hike it though.
Having fun skiing on 6 continuous months of man made snow on Supahstah at Killington. Breck made snow for 3 weeks this year and if their permit allowed could probably still be 100% open. Sorry, but even as an east coaster with pride, nothing out there can compare. Maybe Tucks, but that's it. period.
I like beaver better than vail. vail is too big and your spending most of your day traversing to get wear you want to be for a run or to then move onto another traverse. at least at brave you can get sucked into a single chair for a while and have fun even run and still have time in the day to explore others
if you honestly think the east is better go a head and think that just stay out there don't even come this way go a head and ride your heavy wet snow all year long you wouldn't know what to do with real powder anyways
before they even open for the winter the NFS gives them a closing date in a contract if they decide they want to open a weekend or 2 after that closing date vail resorts has to pay sum $ amount to the NFS to be open outside of contracted dates and sum people are sumwhat right it's all about animal hibernation bears ,mountain lions , elk ,deer etc
