I’m older and had ski school for the first time in about 25 years. Lee was our instructor and he was awesome. My 6 year old son had Zach and Colin (different days) and they were amazing with my little one. One thing Sundance has down is their ski lessons. They are so good and cute with the kids and the kids learn and gain confidence remarkably fast. Amazing with the adults too. I can’t say enough about them. Thank you for making our ski day totally awesome!

Entering Sundance you’re immediately greeted with a truly holiday/winter feel, the sort of rustic, nostalgic feel even if there really isn’t anything personally nostalgic about the place. Growing up skiing here i’ve always felt that there was a run for me whether I was just hopping off the lift for the first time and falling on my face or more recently being a complete psycho on the slopes. Despite being so teeth-chatteringly cold there’s such a cozy, warm environment. Sundance is no joke man, check it out.
Awesome rustic vibe, great views, diversity in run difficulty catering to any skill level.

Here is the thing. I live very close, about 10min drive, but would rather drive 1 hour for better, bigger, and less expensive mountain. I wish Sundance was a lot of things, but it just falls short for me. Here are the main factors that detract me. 1) Very slow lifts that stop all the time 2) Price: Other resorts kids under 10 ski free, not here. I can actually save money going to bigger resort with my family. 3) Only 450 skiable acres, and just not very good terrain. Mix that with the slow lifts and I just don't have much fun. The $10 rope tow was good for very beginner kids. There are some beginner runs, but you still have to go down fairly steep hill to get back to the lift no matter what. This makes it less child/learner friendly IMO.

Definitely feels like a 2nd home to me. It may be small but it's chill if your skiing around with your friends.
Homey, Nice Vibe, Chill
Smaller, Crowded on Saturdays, Ski team is actually just rich kids.

I got my start at Sundance and have brought family and friends here as well. Great terrain for beginners, intermediate, and expert. Night skiing is amazing -front mountain only, but plenty of room for fun. I fell in love with night skiing because there's just something so relaxing to me about seeing the stars as I ski. There are a few areas that aren't lit well at night, but I love those runs because you can see the stars. The back mountain has an amazing view and some beautiful scenic runs as well. I love that you can see both Deer Creek and Utah Lake from the top. Gorgeous resort.

More of a ski resort than a ski factory

Pros: Good food, tucked away advanced terrain primarily on the backside, The Owl Bar, unique vibe Cons: Ski staff can be a little burned out, not much intermediate terrain, Saturdays are slammed with youth, lifts are slow, lower elevation resort, can feel a little elitist If skiing is your priority, choose a different resort. If hang'n out, maybe this resort is for you.
Good food, less expensive
Staff, lack of intermediate terrain, slow lifts

Do yourself a favor and don't ski here on Thursdays. Same experience last 3 Thursdays. Thursdays see many kids lessons with the kids staying in groups of 10-20. They have a knack for stopping and standing in the worst place possible for a large group. At times completely blocking the passage on narrower runs. The amount of supervision they have seems to be around none. Left after 2 hours this time because about a dozen kids were playing and had left all their equipment strewn about directly in front of the lift access. Literally had to climb over their gear to get to lift. Whomever is in charge of these activities needs to at least fake it that they care about the paying customers that are older than 10 years old.
To many large packs of little kids.
