Pros: Great, diverse terrain; tons of snow; everything is close and convenient
Cons: It's called Solitude for a reason (but I like the quietness and simplicity).

This is a great, semi-off-the-beaten path little hidden gem of a ski resort. It's got a sleepy feel to it. Everyone is laid back and casual -- as upscale as it needs to be but nothing fancy here. There's wonderful terrain for skiers of all levels. The double blacks are as tough as they get. Although this is not primarily a place for advanced skiers, there are plenty of challenging and wild runs (through the trees, steep and extremely narrow). Oh and did I mention all the snow?! Plus no lift lines. Brighton is up the canyon just a 10-minute car ride and also great but likewise all about the skiing and not much on nightlife. The two mountains together make Big Cottonwood Canyon an excellent destination for a ski trip.
