Skied some of Canyons and some of Park. Park side was better in my opinion. Canyons has a couple of ice patches and even some bare spots deep in the Colony. Still really good snow all around. Get there before it gets warm next week.
Not sure about the low accumulation numbers posted here for Sunday and Monday. I skied Alta all day Monday and we got at least 10-12" of perfect powder (despite significant morning winds) during the daytime hours alone! Mountain was empty and powder was amazing!!
Guys the road to AltaSnowbird is in the path of several major Avalanche zones and with all the snowfall this year the Avalanche control teams for the county have worked super hard to make it safe. They are really good and there's no reason to worry as far as that on the drive.
However, they've been regularly closing the road in the early morning to do this work. Doesn't really affect guests much because it reopens in time to get there by open but the employees are getting there that the same time and have to gradually open the mountain. That's why in the morning you may see on here lots of trails closed. It isn't so much they have been closed as they haven't been opened yet but they are working on it
The weather was brutal cold and windy yesterday but the mountain was a ghost town. Made fresh tracks from the top of the mountain to the bottom on several runs. Take the tbar out and just cruise through the silky smooth powder in the trees. This was probably the best day of super long unenterrupted pow runs I have ever had. Great reward for braving the frigid air.
