great skiing in Jupiter and Scotts Bowls
crowded on the groomers,
Park City seems to have developed the reputation as a family-centered playground consisting mostly of blue-square groomers. I suppose that, to some extent, this might be true. Sometimes, however, a person's assumptions are challenged. I just returned from a 5 day trip to Utah that included some wonderful days at Alta and Snowbird, but my best steep and deep powder day was at Park City. After a few warm-up runs down Hoist and Thaynes and a couple trips down Blue Slip Bowl, we headed off to the Jupiter Lift for the best powder on the trip. It was a joyous day and a lot of fun. Even in the afternoon, powder could be had by traversing far enough for it. So much of the great terrain at Park City seems to be underused. This is in contrast to my Alta experience where the powder hounds are out and about in a flash.
I had a great time at Park City and felt that we had only just scratched the surface of what is there. I am looking forward to going back there again.
