Minimal lift wait, amazing food
Expensive. Overgroomed, main runs too crowded for safe skiing.

Full review

When you want to avoid holiday crowds and iffy snow conditions, Deer Valley's the place. Every night, practically every trail is groomed to perfection. Hire an instructor and put those picture perfect trails to use improving your technique (make sure they're level 3 certified if you're paying the big bucks. It's now $610/day for a seven-hour private lesson!). The food is world-renown but to avoid those crowds at Silver Lake and Snow Park, grab a delectable panini at Empire Lodge or book reservations for lunch at the Goldener Hirsch Lodge in Silver Lake Village. Trouble with your boots? Ski straight into Surefoot for custom tweeking that will have you back on the hill the same day, in prime form. Skip the Success trail after 3 p.m. the green run becomes a black as you fight to steer clear of ice patches and out of control beginners. Download on the Silver Lake Express or ski Big Stick.
