Good trees to ski in
Pretty tame

Full review

Deer Valley is rated pretty high by magazines and with that being said I went here with high expectations. In comparison to Park City and The Canyons, Deer Valley has similar terrain, but overall lacking the difficulty you can find from say from "Ninety Nine 90" at The Canyons, or "Jupiter" at Park City. Deer Valley makes up for this with a generous amount of trees to ski in. Some of the best trees I have ever had a chance to ski in. Silver Lake Lodge at Deer Valley is big and inviting with great food (probably the best I had of the 7 places in Utah I have been to). Most skiers at Deer Valley tend to stay on the groomers and that left a lot of fresh snow. The mild terrain here makes it a great break from the Little Cottonwood Canyon or Big Cottonwood Canyon. There are more groomers at Deer Valley than any other ski area, and you can find a groomed run down pretty much anywhere it seems. If you are skiing in the spring I would stick to resorts in Big / Little Cottonwood Canyon as the snow shouldn't be as bad there.
