I LOVE Alta! The powder is GREAT...the lack of snowboarders is heavenly and the old school ambiance is wonderful. Alta always gets more snow than it's close neighbor (Snowbird) and KEEPS the snow in good condition since they don't offer 2 for 1 coupons or allow snowboarders to scrape off the snow like Snowbird.

You can get a great breakfast burrito (the size of a baby) before heading up to the lifts at Albion Grill and the secret spot (Watson's Grill on the 3rd level of Collins Grill) is awesome with gourmet food, white table cloths, fresh flowers and warm slippers for your tingling toes. Since the lift lines are nil you CAN eat breakfast, lunch and STILL get a lot of skiing in.

I have been HIT by a snowboarder from behind when I was the ONLY one on an expert run at Snowbird. The snowboarders are reckless and the mountain is doing anything about it. The food there is mediocre and they need a LOT more coverage because the mountain is so rocky.

The snowboarders can KEEP Snowbird. If you want GREAT skiing, conditions, terrain and decent food, go to Alta. Please keep it a "secret" and ski courteously like the natives in Utah! If not, I give you the "bird"....Snowbird that is.
