I don't care about this boarder vs skier stuff. Alta is a great place to ski. Varied terrain provides something for every level, but especially intermediate and above. I'm just an intermediate skier who can fake some black runs but I can ski Alta all day. My wife is a much better skier, has skied throughout Colorado and Alta is her favorite. We can ski off the same lift and do runs of different challenge. Snow is generally excellent with less grooming then most resorts. Atmosphere is friendly and unpretentious. Food on the mountain is good and fairly priced. Overall experience excellent. However if you want to shop, drink, meet members of the opposite sex , etc you are probably better off elsewhere. If you want to ski the best; here it is.
