When I first pulled in to Alta, I was amazed at how old the buildings were. This was an extreme +! riding hasnt always been about technology its about being one with the mountain.
The day i was there, the lift lines were extrmely long! 15 Minutes at least!
After i got some demos from the nicest lodge employee i have ever met, (Extreme +!) I went out to the hill.
Also, watch out for "hardcore skiers" who will kick you off a traverse if you dont get out of their way. one said "Move or I will run you over!"
By the way, i am a decent skier who is willing to hike and will go down anything. So dont think im some beginner who cant handle a "real skiers mountain."
The lift system, is decent, thats one good thing about Alta.
However, the most important one ever is "DO NOT GO THERE IF IT IS NOT A POWDER DAY!" Lets just say, Alta doesnt own too many snowcats.
Overall, a dream day at Alta would be a weekday with new snow, otherwise, head to somewhere else.
