After skiing 2 days of so-so snow and visibility at Snowbird on my first trip to Utah decided to take the bus from the Cliff Lodge and give Alta a try with my wife a two college age daughters. We absolutely loved the mountain and terrain. Found that the snow was better (maybe because there were no Snow Boarders) and for my wife the intermediate terrain was much nicer and more abundant. The trail layout also allowed us to ski off the same area but split off with some of us going to intermediate trails and the rest skiing more advanced terrain then linking up at the lift. We also found that the staff at Alta were very friendly and helpful. We liked the mountain so much that on our last day I upgraded my 4 out of 5 day Snowbird lift ticket to a combined Alta/Snowbird ticket so we could ski Alta on our last day. This was the most expensive ticket I have ever purchased ($62+$32=$94 x 4 tickets) but it was worth it.
