The Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), with nearly 450 daily departures to over 100 nonstop destinations, is a major hub for Delta Airlines. Other major carriers include American Airlines, Continental, Frontier, JetBlue, Southwest, United Airlines, and US Airways. You can often fly and ski on the same day in Utah. Show your boarding pass for that day upon arriving at your resort, and you could ski free.
Alta is located just 25 miles southeast of Salt Lake City at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Use State Highway 210. It's merely 45 minutes from the airport.
There are literally a slew of companies that will gladly deliver you the 45 minutes it takes to get from SLC to Alta. Find them all by clicking http://www.alta.com/pages/transportation.php
Look for the free white bypass shuttle bus from 8:30-11 a.m. This bus runs continuously and stops at all major lodging properties as well as the Collins and Wildcat ticket offices. The same system sits at the bottom of Collins chair from 3-5 p.m. to return weary skiers to their lodging.
The Utah Transit Authority also offers a free connection between Alta and Snowbird. Call 801-RIDE-UTA, or visit RideUTA.com.
