Easy, wide slopes, cruising, Family friendly, Close to Salzburg airport
Fairly small, too easy for advanced skiers
I have skied Steinplatte for 6 years, and have brought the family for the last 4 years. We have always had a great time here, and never had an issue with the snow cover. It's a wide open snow bowl, with well maintained tracks that suit beginners and intermediates alike. Advanced will be bored here after a few hours.
The main blue run is very wide and gentle and is a favourite with ski schools and beginners. This means that groups of mixed ability skiers will like this resort as there is something for most sliers here. The lift system is excellent with virtually no queueing. There is also the novelty of skiiing across border into Germany.
My one word of warning is that because of the number of inexperienced skiers here, I have seen more collision accidents here than any other resort I've skied, especially aroound the half pipe in the middle of the easy blue.
Overall a very good family resort that is virtually snow sure and queue free
