With its 8,500 inhabitants, St. Johann in Tirol is situated in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps at 670 metres above sea level. And with 2,000 inhabitants, Oberndorf in Tirol is nestled between the Kitzbüheler Horn and the Wilder Kaiser range at approximately 687 metres above sea level. Several lifts make numerous kilometres of slopes accessible to skiers of all levels of difficulty on the snowy side of the Kitzbüheler Horn in the skiing area St. Johann in Tirol - Oberndorf. Kitzbuhels quieter neighbour

Pros: North facing slopes, good snow record, uncrowded pistes, unpretentious, busy town, shopping, transport links
Cons: beginners areas hard to get to, lack of modern hotels, little off complex ski bus
