Ischgl is one of the many "party" ski resorts of the Austrian Alps. After the lifts close people are at the mountain bars until almost dark. Having said this, it is also a great skiing area. Long cruiser runs with 4000 plus vertical. Almost every lift is a high speed lift of some kind. Skiing down to Samnaun in Switzerland is wonderful. Samnaun is duty free and they havve shops right on the runs at the Village. Good price too! So if you ski to Samnaun to shop, bring your backpack! Overall a great ski area, large, and wonderful places to eat. If you go in mid January they have wonderful snow carvings done by European wood carvers. Each year is a different theme. This year was soccor. The town is not really recommended as a family destination.
