Imst is a small, pretty resort with a mid-sized ski area but a world class 1000m plus vertical and runs for all standards including sleep blacks. Night skiing is possible several evenings a week to 9.30pm. The resort's lift ticket sellers won a friendliest cashiers award in a lift company competition! In recent years it has won as much attention for its year round 'Alpine Coaster' (www.alpine-coaster.at) - a kind of cross between a roller coaster and a downhill metal sled ride. Imst has won awards for the Alpine Coasrter which has now been copied by other resorts, including the Glacier 3000 area by Diablerets in Switzerland. Other facilities include a 4km (2.5 mile) long floodlit toboggan run on the Untermarkter Alm open to 2am some evenings and with the lights off for moonlit skiing during full moon periods. There's a second, longer 6km (3.5 mile) toboggan run on the Obermarkter Alm.
