Albertville 1992 Winter Olympic Games have spent the Tarentaise "biggest ski area in the world."

The valley contains the most famous altitude ski resorts (Val d'Isère, Tignes, La Plagne, Les Arcs...) with a worldwide reputation based on the extent of their ski areas, the snow guarantee and a wide range of equipments and services.
