  • Flying Fossils at Keystone

    She calls herself the "flying fossil." 75-year-old Freda Nieters is a former ski champion who broke the Guinness Book of World Records last year by skiing 78,000 vertical feet in one day at Keystone. This week, she skied with former Olympians Steve Mahre and Jason Rossner to raise money for SIDS, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Nieters' grandson died of it in 2005. Full Article

    Old Man Winter is in Breckenridge. That's the winning sculpture in this year's Budweiser Select International Snow Sculpture Championship, a creation of Team Oregon. The sculpture is of an older man reflecting on his life with a satisfied grin. Thousands of spectators watched as 14 teams from six countries participated in the event, now in its 17th year.
