Southwest Colorado Ski Resorts FAQ

Southwest ColoradoSouthwest Colorado dishes out some serious terrain for those skiers and riders brave enough to come to the table. After all, there’s a reason why Crested Butte routinely hosts extreme skiing comps and Silverton Mountain requires each guest to pack a beacon and shovel. From Wolf Creek’s bottomless powder to Telluride’s iconic ski-town atmosphere, southwest Colorado is home to some of the country’s last great ski towns and rowdiest in-bounds terrain.Aside from Crested Butte and neighboring Monarch Mountain, the majority of the state’s southern resorts are within close proximity to one another: Purgatory, Telluride and Silverton Mountain are all within a 50 mile radius. Expect a five to seven hour drive to any of these resorts if coming from Denver. Connecting flights to Montrose, Telluride and Gunnison, via Denver, are available.
