Great Conditions (March 22) I drove 2 1/2 hours from CT. I was concerned if it was going to be worth the time & money.
YES!!!, it was worth it!!! All the trails that were open, Were in great condition for spring. Very enjoyable.
Unfortunately no woods this year but Stratton has done a great job with what they have been given this season. I go out at least twice a week and they have consistently done well with the lack of natural snow this season
Snowed 1-2 inches last night on top of firm groomers, and it was pretty damn good. That along with the recently blown Snow on several trails made for generally good coverage and it turned into packed powder conditions on most of the main mountain. They did some weekend work in the North Face and to my surprise there were 5 rideable trails with only a little ice. With tonight's grooming the main face will again be pretty nice. Almost felt like Winter conditions again and the coverage and grooming was better than my last visit about a week ago. Great choice in making some fresh snow. They could extend the life of several trails if they just added some more snow at the top sections...or maybe, just maybe Mother Nature will do it for a change.
Better than expected. Got dusting last night and the sun came out by noon and softened up the snow. You can even find some loose fresh snow on the sides. No crowds and not too cold. Still worth coming up on a weekday.
to be honest, its a crap show out there. They are doing the best they can (while charging over $80). Its better than not skiing but just barely. Very icy, lots of grass and mud showing through. They never got a real base and are just limping towards an early end to this dud of a winter.
