From a distance you can see how little snow cover they have. Up close, the bottom is a disaster but the top has full overage. Not many people but also not many trails open. The bottom line is that the sun is shining and with the wind low it's awesome spring riding.
With the little snowfall this season.. The upper and backside are in good condition ..Stay away from lower part because of the dirt and rocks are visible. I was pleasantly surprised how good the skiing is with theses conditions . No crowds , time to ski before its too late..
Yesterday was nice. Snow around mid mountain was crusty early but softened as the day progressed. Around 2:30 the bottom of the mountain was basically h skiable. The top was icy and windy early on but probably thawed as the sun came out. Pretty solid day outside of the blackout powoutage!
It was VERY WINDY today (gusts 60-70 mph), which caused the mountain to shut most of the lifts down. The snow is very bad by any of the lodges and anything below about mid mountain (slush and ice), but the snow is better higher than mid mountain (packed powder & spring snow).
Most of the mountain was icy until 10:30(daylight savings time affected that), from about 11 to 1:30 it melted over the ice to give it a soft fluffy ride that I considered good enough to hit 50+ mph on my bombing runs. After 1:30 it was so so depending on the runs. Slushy then.
Went yesterday 3/14 lots of slush and some water in flatter areas other then That it's like a fun soft mashed potato surface to ski on stay on steeper or shadier runs had an absolute blast get up before its all gone!
Soft pushable snow on top, "fresh corn/untracked 3" soft glop" (which is fun) in mid altitudes, spring slush at bottom. Almost no obstacles, warm, no wind, fun snow. Doesn't get much better than this (other than deep pow I guess.). Fun times!!
