Just finished 4 days on Heavenly. Great time. Was a bit skeptical and almost postponed the trip. We were very happy with Heavenly. They did a great job making sure the runs were in good shape
Nevada side had better snow all around. Cali side icy in morning & slushy by noon
Sat was fantastic, got in more than 30,000 vertical, Sunday great as well - so yes Bay Area, please continue to stay home - I'm having a great season without ya!!! Certainly don't miss the extra unmarked obstacles poaching my lines...
It's not packed powder and it's not a 45 inch base. Those are flat out lies. The reality is: good coverage on the runs that are open with the exception of the bottom of Westbowl. If you stray anywhere off the open runs, you will quickly meet up with wood, rock or earthen materials. Snow quality is kind of moot when the temp is 39 degrees upon arrival in the morning. We had fun but mainly because we have passes and didn't have to pay. Plus, we found a fiver in the snow so that was cool too. Grandview chair was broke in the morning (Sunday) not sure if it has been fixed.
Spring skiing with great coverage. No wait at the lines. DJs spinning and the regulars having an awesome time.Keep thinking there's no snow Bay Area and miss out on a great season at Kirkwood. I stopped answering those asking all puzzled "is there snow in Tahoe?"
"Not that bad". Given the bad season, heavenly has done a good job of providing a solid product. We were there on sat of Labor Day weekend and the grooming was solid the lines were short- good since half the mountain was closed. Blues were great, blacks ice, green slush
