In my 20 years of skiing/snowboarding this is the single worst day I've had resort riding. Rocks and huge bare spots everywhere, impossible not to destroy your equipment. Go to any other resort in Tahoe and you'll be better off...

icy as can be. so many rocks. maybe it is the snow gods trying to send a message that YOUR LIFT TICKET PRICES ARE OUTRAGES! Middle class americans with a family can't afford a $750 dollar day. There is also food, gas, and hotels that people have to pay for. hopefully these resorts lower their prices.

Avoid Lower main at ALL COSTS. Stumps, icy moguls, rocks, and small trees sticking out.

Its fun out there but dont have high expectations. I rode sierra at tahoe over new years for 3 days. The best conditions are from first chair to about 12. From 12 to 3 it was slushy. There were patches of ice in some places from 3 to closing time. Thin coverage on some runs and others have fantastic coverage. I ran over tons of rocks and bare spots. Pretty sure every resort in tahoe is the same right now.

wind swept and icy. no coverage. only go if you have no other option or ride park. even then, the park has fairly few features and is not maintained to achieve its full potential as it should be due to the fact it is one of the only technical areas to ski open as of now

Not a lot of runs open but not too bad for skimpy coverage. Lift lines were short but runs crowded. Hard pack and icy areas with patches of softer man made snow. Got a few dings from rocks. Don't bring your good skis.

Decent day yesterday. Hard pack underneath with man made on top. Grew up skiing in the icy east, reminded me of it very much.

That same thing happened at Sierra at Tahoe when i was there over new years little kids who were beginners in ski school stop super fast right in front of me while im speeding down the run at 35+ mph. You're absolutely right they dont belong on blue and black runs. I dont get what goes through the heads of these instructors that makes them think "Im gonna take my 4 year old students on blue and black runs and have them stop fast so fast a snowboarder runs into them and kills/severely injures them.

Can anyone confirm the snow report? Are the slopes worth coming up there? We are heading that way tomorrow.
