Mostly decent conditions today (2/27). Snow is much better than expected based on recent precipitations. Last night brought a nice inch or so on top of the mountain. Steep terrain and off piste is not recommended though. Overall a Heavenly is much better than Kirkwood. That was a surprise.
i wouldnt get too exited about 6-10 inchs... very little moisture with "front sliding down"... id expect 4-6 inchs. seen this happen 1000 times, people expect alot and we get a little. expect a little and hopefully we get alot!
Monday 2/23 was COLD and windy, so the backside and any exposed runs weren't worth the lift ride time and effort. mid mountain groomers were nice with some icy spots emerging as riders went through. anything off the trails had an icy crust even though it looks nice and soft! Tuesday 2/24 was very warm but mid mountain stuff still nice with sections off the chairs getting a little slushy by noon.
They arent closing any trails that have been open all winter. Heavenly is an exposed mnt and the winds get crazy when the weather pattern changes. the gondola, tamark, and sky will go on windholds until it is safe. most other lifts will still be running. today was all good
