Went on Saturday and had a blast. As for those people complaining, they were clearly expecting February conditions just a couple days out from thanksgiving. If you're expecting world class conditions in November, you're gonna have a bad time.
Opening day -- this past Friday -- at Cranmore had just one run open (two linked trails) but snow quality was great, sun was out and staff was fantastic. Cranmore 'went small' for opening but delivered the goods on the runs that were open.
Saturday at Sunday River was the worst day of skiing I've ever encountered. Every Blue run was a mogul field w/ exposed rocks -- not groomed as promised. Broadway was only groomer but packed -- including w/ ski racers training ... racing on a beginner run. Awful conditions.
5 lifts but just about 1 run per lift so trails tended to be crowded. on the bright side, no lines whatsoever. by the end of Friday, dirt was cropping up everywhere. until more snow is made I would not advise making the trip.
