Nice in the morning. Typical spring skiing. Mammoth is doing a good job of spreading out the snow that's there. There are a few patches of ice and exposed gravel rocks but it's doable. Bring your rock board or thrasher ski's.

Ski'd for 6 days in Heavenly and this is my final day. Seen a huge decline in conditions over the week with a large number of runs showing rocks, ground and lots of ice. Resort has changed to Slow Ski only due to conditions and number of injuries. Nevada best conditions with Orion and Dipper having very good Skiing. Skyline is horrendous with very little coverage and ski wrecking conditions. Olympic run was great a few days ago but very compact and icy now. Well done to the crew for keeping Heavenly open. Watch out for Mogul monsters, they're all over!

Drifter is great to get the season started. Snow cover is abysmal.

Most people clear out around 5. Since it's open till 9, that's like the best time to be there. The lines are short, sometimes nonexistent, and the slopes are relatively clear of newbies. It gets really busy around noon. You don't even want to ski. Lines are about a 15-45 minute wait and the slopes are packed full to the point people are literally running into each other for lack of space. It actually gets kind of scary. If you're advanced, like double black diamond advanced, expect little to no wait at any time. Most of the people out there are newbies to intermediates.

Heavenly is needing some natural pow! Drove all the way up from the bay and it is not even worth it. I am going to have to practice my heavenly strut instead.

This is what it was like on Jan 9, 2013. I sadly changed my early January ski trip to Vail this year. Vail is too pretentious; Heavenly is a much better "down to earth resort". The only reason I choose Vail was because they showed the best signs in November of being nearly completely open by Jan 1, 2014, which they currently have about 90% of the runs open. I miss you Heavenly...I'll visit in a few years in mid February or early March when your conditions are at their peak.
