After skiing Courchevel and the 3 Valleys for years, I decided to have a look at something different where I could settle down for another decade. Val d'Isere was a good choice, you can really enjoy skiing and riding there in good conditions, until late in April or May.
I recon this resort is more sportive than Courch! The people, the slopes, you are here to ski/ride a snowboard, not to eat in fancy restaurants for hours (Val also has very good restaurants)
I met some members of the Mattis family, and they made me appreciate everything there.
After all the pros above, the cons:
- access is sometimes not so easy, especially when you come for the week-end and it snows hard
- lodging is getting very expensive, like in Courch
