Pros: Great for beginners to Intermediate with some

Cons: Not heavy with nightlife and some of the tougher pistes aren't always open

Val Cenis is a great little resort for groups or families of mixed ability. It's not the hugest resort but with the recently complete link up to Termignon there is enough of interest for skiers and borders alike who don't necessarily enjoy the "motorway" skiing offered by some of the larger resorts.

There are some really delightful runs down through the treeline, and whilst there aren't many black runs the few there are offer a reasonable challenge. On the downside, towards the end of the season, or if the snowfall is limited the interminably long "Escargot" green home run has large passages scraped bare, there are alternative routes back on red and blue but these may challenge newer skiers. However, as it is North facing it tends to keep it's snow longer than other resorts in the area.

I have attended L'ecole du Ski here several times and the standard of teaching I have experienced has been excellent from Intermediate Group sessions to private one on one.

The nightlife is the usual fare, not much in the way of clubs but some nice bars and hotels. The restaurant next to the base of the telecabine is excellent value for lunch with pasta and Pizza as well as the local savoyard dishes.
If it's a wild party time you are after then I would say this resort is probably not for you.

As I said at the beginning this is ideal territory for mixed ability groups with a good range of Easy/pleasant green runs, interesting blues, challenging reds and it is a short skip on local transport to La Norma and through Orelle to Val Thorens
if you want to push your boundaries a bit further.
