Ski Reports

OnTheSnow provides RSS Snow Report Data Feeds at region/state as well as resort levels. They are a great way to get all of the current ski resort snow conditions for your website. Best of all, they are free of charge.

In short, they are well formed RSS 2.0 files that

- Has the latest snow data. It is updated once an hour.
- Allows you to format the data on on your website as you see fit.
- You harvest via HTTP from our webservers.

This is a very versatile option. We supply the data and you make it work for your website. While it will take some programming on your end, the end product is exactly what you want it to be.

Our region/state level RSS feeds can be found by going to the OnTheSnow RSS News Feed Page

Our resort RSS feeds can be accessed by going to:
http://www.onthesnow.com/{Region Abbreviation}/{OnTheSnow ID}/snow.rss

Our RSS Snow Report feeds contain the following information:

title - the name of the resort
guid - the link to OnTheSnow.com's full report
pubDate - the time when this ski report was updated
ots:open_staus - displays whether the resort is open or closed
ots:resort_id - the OnTheSnow resort ID
ots:base_depth - the snow depth at the base of the resort
ots:snowfall_48hr - the total natural snowfall in the last 48 hours
ots:region_name - the OnTheSnow region name ( e.g. Colorado)
ots:surface_condition - the primary snow condition at the ski resort ( e.g. powder)
ots:base_depth_metric - the unit of measurement for the reported base depth
ots:snowfall_48hr_metric - the unit of measurement for the 48 hour snow fall
ots:resort_rss_link - the direct link to the resort's OnTheSnow rss feed

All we ask it that you credit OnTheSnow.com on pages that contain our data.

For power users, we also offer the same information in JSON format. Just follow the same logic as the RSS, but go to snow.js instead of snow.rss.

The RSS News feeds contain the following information:

title - the title of the story
description - a short description of the story
guid - the link to full story
pubDate - the date when the story was published
ots:region_name - the OnTheSnow region name ( e.g. Colorado)
