Skiers can look forward to a snowy winter vacation if they come to the Rhön region. The region is considered to be rather snow reliable because of the rather high (for a low mountain range) attitude. The region is located in the borderland of several federal states and the highest elevation is the Wasserkuppe (950 m).

The mountain is a popular alpine ski area. Other ski areas in the region are Arnsberg, Kreuzberg, Hohe Geba, Zuckerfeld, and the ski centre Simmelsberg. The conditions for winter sports of all sorts are nearly ideal here. You can go skiing, cross-country skiing or use one of the toboggan runs.
