Overview

The Val di Viù is the destination of numerous skiers who can choose between 23 km of downhill ski runs accessed by the lift systems of Pian Benot and the cross-country skiing circuit of Piana di Usseglio, a picturesque basin dominated by the mountain group of the Torre d’Ovarda, the Lera and the Rocciamelone. The Nordic ski run is FISI approved and winds for 11 km through fantastic natural scenery, with 5 rings which offer courses suitable both for beginners and for expert skiers. It also has a modern equipment hire centre, a ski school and an artificial snow system. For those who wish to experience new excitement, a stretch of the track has been created for use with sled dogs and for skijoring, a fascinating discipline of Nordic origin which combines the cross-country skiing technique with pulling by one of two dogs harnessed to the skier: it is a collaborative sport which requires skill and an excellent relationship between the skier and the dog.
