no professionalism on whitetails part
Whitetail resort on the surface is perfectly fine. They accommodate skiiers and beginners/families perfectly. They offer a tubing park, nice beginner slopes with the magic carpet, and fine lodging for food and hot drinks.
When it comes to local seasoned riders, the compliments end there. My friends and I have been supporting whitetail (season pass holders) since 2000. We snowboard and have made every attempt to talk to "management" about creating a safer and professional terrain park for experienced riders. Our input goes unnoticed and people continue to get hurt. We have been told by management that whitetail is for skiiers, not snowboarders. When that was told to us it was clear they did not care to make our experience more enjoyable or safer. They tend to react to accidents rather than trying to prevent them. In the past couple of years they created a beginner park and an advance park. Sadly, the beginners are not using the small park, but are inundating the advanced park and getting dangerously in the way of advanced/experienced riders. To add to this problem, parents of young children allow their kids to go through the advance terrain park as if it is a play ground. It is not. It is for riders who take risks and know the innate dangers, but adding "obstacles" only creates more problematic situations. Whitetail needs to make very clear that this area is not just a "pass through" for parents with young kids. The parents need to recognize this is a dangerous area. Allowing young children to stand on top of features, sit in the middle of a run, and so on are putting their children at risk. Yelling and threatening a snowboarder because they get upset that your child is standing in the middle of a jump is out of line. We are trying to help your kid more than you think.
If you are going to go into the advanced park, follow the rules, respect other riders, and be very cautious of your surroundings.
