Let me start by saying that we have been visiting Seven Springs since 1980, Season Pass Holders and Home owners here.
Seven spring use to have some of the best snow in the Mid Atlantic but not any longer. This past week was really the icing on the cake. Very cold for three days and the snow making was limited to a few areas and after 3 days of warm weather the snow is melting at an alarming rate. They spend weeks building a 1/2 Pipe that very few people use and the rest of the area has limited snow. What is going on here? They are running this resort like the Pirates are ran.
The food service area of the resort has continued to decline with prices out of this world. We use to eat at the buffet every Sunday for brunch but now it has become so poor we have not eaten there since opening weekend. Lift Line Cafe has no more breakfast available and if you want to grab something besides a sandwich you need to eat at the buffet. They use to have the best pancakes.
Chicken Fingers for 9.50?
Fresh Sliced roast beef is gone.
Eating area had all the picnic tables replaced with round tables which is very nice but the seating capacity is now limited with people holding tables with bags on them so that people who buy food have no where to sit. So a family of four drops 60.00 for lunch and can't sit down to eat because of the tables being used as a locker room.
Gunner Chair still having issues
Avalanche Chair was closed for just about a week.
Bottom line is Seven Springs is over rated and they get the higher ratings because many of the people they attract are skiers that ski a couple of weekends a year only in the mid atlantic. If they ventured to the northeast or out west many would not return or give them negative marks on the survey.
We skied Hidden Valley just for a change during the week and they have double the snow base Seven Springs has right now. No the terrain is limited but we still had a great time with much better conditions. I guess the staff that has made the move from SS to HV has really made a great change.
Maybe next year will be better but I would bet it will be the same old same old.
