Good Night Skiing, Lots of Snowmakers
Bad Snow, Short Runs
I went to liberty last year with my cousins in late December. It was an okay mountain. I went for night skiing, which is really nice. Unlike some mountains, there are absolutely no dark spots, which also means the trails are jammed right up against eachother, so the variety of terrain wasn't great. There are two or three "expert trails" which are extremely short, but steep with moguls. Still, they are far from intimidating. The steep sections are straight, and probably only like fifty feet of vertical drop. The mountain isn't very big, which means each run takes approximately three to four minutes. It was crowded too, so not good if you have small children. Also, the snow was really bad. It is all little frozen chunks of ice. This is the snow they make, not the natural snow. When I was there, there hadn't been any natural snow, so some trails were just grass. But the coverage of the trails is impressive. There are tons of snow machines, so even when there is no snow, the make plenty of crappy snow. The food is pretty good, and there is a great cafeteria area with a fireplace and sit-down restaurant. The cleanliness wasn't very good, neither was the price of the food. I think this mountain is not the greatest place to ski, but not one to avoid, definitely consider it.
