Full review

This is our second year of season passes. Moved into the house last weekend (12/12/09) and were shocked at the amount of natural snow on the ground (4-6). Snow making is phenomenal and natural snow is more often than you would think because it sits higher above 2300 feet (rain/snow line) and peaks at 3000. (next door peaks around 2500) Made snow is powder not granuals. 24-30" base on the main runs easily. It is a shame that this mountain cannot acquire more terrain/veritcal as conditions are what makes it most attractive. Terrain expansion did not occur as planned for this year as promised, with no info from Buncher. That said, it is still a family friendly place and still worth it for those who aren't thrill seekers. Yes the lift stops frequently, as the friendly staff does so for learners to get on or to keep families when the child misses the lift and is stuck at the gate, but since the run isn't very long you aren't on it forever just the same. There are no busloads of drunk teenagers on friday nights which is a huge plus. It has been a wonderful mountain to teach our three children (9,11,13) over the past 5 years. As an intermediate to advanced skiier and hubby is advanced/expert there isn't much for us to ski, but these years are about training our kids for the big trips later. We skied 42 days last season. That's a lot of intermediate level practice. Price is another consideration. Everything is cheaper here from lifts to lodging. Since you aren't coming off the blues with kids this age anyway, why pay more for a bigger mountain? diamonds here are more like double blues on larger resorts. (steep but very short) Great confidence/skill builders for the intermediate set but nothing exciting for mom and dad. This might be our last year here before our kids want bigger terrain but it has been a wonderful ride so far. PS. Because it is so family friendly, nightlife is at the bare minimum. For late night snacking or easy dinner, Hometown Pizza (off site) delivers to the resort.
