We ski in the Poconos often but had never been to Elk because it is a little further north than some of the other ski resorts and coming for a day of skiing it can be a hike. Well, after skiing at Elk I realized it is worth the drive. I had the best day of skiing I have had in the Poconos. Yes, it is still not Vermont or out west, but for Pennsylvania it is the best there is. The skiing conditions were amazing with fresh white powder and since we were there on a weekday we had the run of the place with no crowds. I was often the only one on a slope and the first one to cut tracks into the powder. I also enjoyed the variety and some of the steepest slopes in PA. The facilities were also nice and well maintained and the staff was very friendly. My only complaint, as others have mentioned, is that Elk could really use a high-speed lift. Regardless, it was a great day of skiing and we will be going back next year!
