Full review

I was at Elk on a Saturday in February after a big storm. I was really impressed with the ski area. The snow was the best I have ever experienced on the east coast. Unlike other ski areas in the Poconos, Elk leaves some of their trails ungroomed for those of us who like powder and bumps. The ungroomed trails were without question the best ones at the place. Even though the storm was 3 days earlier, I was able to find freshies at the sides of the trails.

The mountain has a lot of acreage for Pennsylvania and the layout of the trails really spreads people out. Even though the lift lines were long, most trails were not crowded at all.

The only downside is that Elk is a long drive for most people in SE Pennsylvania or New Jersey. It's kind of tough for a day trip.
