It is disappointing that on 1 /30/24 most of the runs on the south side of the mountain are still closed. It does not have enough snowmaking to cover the whole mountain until late in the season in he current warm winters. What makes Elk interesting is the not too difficult black runs, but the trails on the south side like Tuscarora, Mohawk and Iroquois are the last to receive snow-making. Why make snow on Kickapoo before Tuscarora, my favorite trail after Slalom. The lifts are so slow. I would be good for Elk to invest in at least one top to bottom fast lift. When all the black trails are open Elk is a varied and interesting mountain to ski and the grooming usually is excellent. It is almost never crowded during the week. I was planning to ski there today, 1/30 but not worth the two hour drive when all the south side trails are closed, even Slalom.
Black trails have a good pitch and are diverse, good grooming
intermediate trails are too easy to but I like the curves on Tioga and Kickapoo. slow lifts.

It was a great day on the mountain! It wasn’t too crowded on a holiday weekend and the trails were in great conditions. Brandon from elk mountain courtesy patrol was the best! He worked so hard and went out of his way to find us after we lost car keys. Thank you Brandon for helping us get home safely!

The mountain was great for one in PA but the rental process took forever. Even if you had purchased rentals online you had to wait in line to sign a form. Amenities were not great. Not much nearby.
Well groomed, nice selection for the beginner/intermediate skiier, not super expensive
Rental process is terrible. Amenities, COVID policies, cleanliness not great.

Elk is probably the best mountain in Pennsylvania. I actually have a season pass at another resort in PA, so that says a lot. First the good. These are great runs. Excellent trails, great snow and well maintained. This year they even installed a new RFID system which makes skiing even easier and more fun. Now the bad. The place gets crowded on weekends, as bad as Killington. They have no capacity limits and they take all who come. They also have zero mask or COVID enforcement of any kind. They claim to have a policy, but they don't enforce it. Now the ugly. Their lifts are in need of some upgrades. This past week one of the main lifts went out on 2 separate days, for the whole day. They had to 'rescue' people. Best thing to do is to show up on a weekend and ski the morning. You can ski every run by noon, and if you find anything you really like then you can ski it over again. You'll be able to leave before the crowds show up, have a great time. If you do that and it'll be worth it.
Great runs
Gets crowded on weekends

The mountain is impeccably groomed. The lift lines are minimum. The chairs are slow but feel the slopes from getting crowded. They could upgrade the facility with a deck and chairs to enjoy the sun. Overall I visit it often and find it the best mountain in the area.
Best grooming in PA, NY and NJ. Minimum lift lines. Polite help. Slopes not crowded
Slow lifts but this keeps the slopes without crowds. No out door seating

I love Elk and have been going there for 30 years, but cannot give the highest rating. Its a wonderful mountain for intermediate skiiers and snoweboarders and for people who like the great scenery. The scenery has even improved with extensive tree growing which has certainly impacted the appearance over the years (I have pictures from every year and track it) the problem is Elk has invested very little in the small scale ammenities that make skiing enjoyable multiple times in one place. Some extra challenging trails in some areas and definately a real patio with chairs and grilling like most of the northeast mountains and particularly during Covid. Elk also needs online ordering and newer ticket systems. They have elements like a warming shack (A Covid disaster) for people in the know, but could expand on that in easy ways around the mountain. Its not Elk's fault but the area around it has gone downhill the last 30 years. Few restaurants within a 30 minute drive or decent hotels. Elk's the best mountain in PA and they have their audience. Its not expensive and its always fun. Maybe is shouldn't change, but even a small number of improvements would go a long way.
Excellent PA snowmaking and mountain
Could use one real double black and some more ammenities.

For PA its good, but that's relative. Nothing challenging at all, and there are some open looking gladded spots that you will be reprimanded for skiing in because their policy is no skiing between the runs. And the "ski patrol" seem to take pride in chasing you out and yelling at you, even though there are no real markings other than their dumb signs that say no skiing recklessly off trails... I guess it is easier than having ski patrol that can do the job needed for gladded runs. And they could have great tree runs with all the pines planted, but prefers to caterer to the beginner PA and surrounding crowd rather than decent skiers. Facilities are garbage and outdated, and cant even comment on the food because service was impossible to get, but it looked dreadful. Sat at a table for 15min while servers walked around then left. Little reason to go there unless you live close. Oh and super slow old lifts, but decent uphill capacity. Pretty lousy overall, with massive potential to compete with the Catskills if they had the $ and resources.

Skiers and boarders each have plenty of room on the slopes to have fun. Excellent mountain management allows for good spacing and avoids everyone being too close to each other. Beautiful trails too.
Great snowmaking and excellent grooming.
Can’t think of any!

Gotta laugh at some of these reviews. Beware of these idiots on the slopes or on the road driving up. You certainly do not want to be breaking bread near them as well. ELK ? ...... its good Pocono skiing. Like any ski area, use judgement with weather, conditions and crowds. Peace
